Feb. 13, 2025 - Special Guest Layne Kilgore from "Ladies Under Pressure"

Did you catch last night's #TrudiTime featuring special guest Layne Kilgore from “Ladies Under Pressure”? They shared their journey of how she and her partner kicked things off, their top tips for marketing success, and why building connections in the industry is absolutely essential! Make sure you don't miss out and tune in today!!!

Today we are talking with Layne Kilgore from “Ladies Under Pressure” in Kentucky. What it is like to be a male dominated industry.

Layne and her partner have been in the game since 2008. Her partner brings a wealth of experience in property management services, while Layne transitioned from the television industry. Layne realized there was something more out there, and interestingly, her current partner lived right next door. She and her partner began their journey with just an S10 truck, built their reputation through word of mouth, and now, 17 years later, look at where they are! They realized that simply pressure washing wasn't cutting it. Convenient services for women entrepreneurs and power washing during the summer season.

They've got 2 trucks and another vehicle, which is still on the smaller side, and they're aiming to bring in 1-2 more teams. They've got a team of 5 right now.

She is currently writing a book that highlights the significance of individuals in the business, from the customers you engage with to the colleagues you collaborate with in the industry. The latest book explores the importance of self-care and effective communication with clients.

Most of the calls we receive for washing services come from women, making up about 60-70% of our inquiries. Trudi enjoys her role as a woman in the industry, as it allows her to connect with customers in a more gentle and approachable manner.

Marketing: What works best in Kentucky for marketing?

  • She still believes in low tech, than anything. One of the hardest things in the business is small. Networking with everyone in the community, and sometimes that could be enough to keep you busy all season.
  • Always carry business cards.
  • Rolling advertisements in your trucks, t-shirts, pens.
  • Trudi is big on silent auctions at the schools, and fall festivals (Donate a house wash).
  • Find out when HOAs are having meetings, and networking in the most important marketing sale you can have.
  • Door hangers are a recommended way of advertising, and low cost.
  • Referrals are one of the best ways for getting customers.
  • Collaborating with others in the industry, and looking at it as “NOT COMPETITION”.
  • Share the information, and the more that you share helps everyone in the industry.
