A float valve system is a simple but effective way of controlling the flow of water into your buffer tank and shutting it off once it becomes full. The system works by using a float, typically made of plastic, which rises with the level of the water in the tank. Attached to the float is a valve mechanism, which is designed to shut off the flow of water once the float reaches a certain height.
One of the key advantages of the FlowPro float valve system is its simplicity. This float valve requires no external power source or complex control mechanisms, making it a reliable and cost-effective solution to controlling the water level of your buffer tank. Additionally, the system is easy to install and maintain.
Installed outside the tank, the FlowPro float system allows filling to your buffer tank’s capacity unlike other systems which take up 15-20 or more available gallons of capacity. It sits approximately 4 inches above your tank and can be connected to your hose reel or directly to the water source.
Another advantage is the ease of field repairs or replacement. No tools are required to replace the float and only a phillips screwdriver is required to clean it out. The FlowPro mechanical float system comes with a back-up float valve should trash get in the line clogging the float. While its easy to clean out it is probably quicker to change and clean out when you are back at the shop. No need to repair at the job site.
The connecting hose and both fittings can be purchased at most hardware stores. The Flexilla hose has a male and female and swivels at both ends making it very easy to connect. Of course, you can hard plumb your own hose as well.
Pro tip: If you currently have another float system keep it live in case you need to run a secondary hose into your tank due to low water flow.
